Dental Bonding

What is bonding?

Bonding, or also called “white-filling” is a simple procedure that repairs a broken piece of your tooth. Bonding can also be used to fix a tooth that has had a cavity. The best thing about bonding is that this type of filling is completely metal free! Say goodbye to your old silver fillings! Gone are the days of filling your mouth with noticeable metal. Bonding can restore your teeth back to their natural, healthy look in less than 30 minutes!

What Can Bonding be used to Fix?

  • Repair a decayed tooth
  • Repair a chipped or broken tooth
  • Improve the appearance of discolored teeth
  • Close spaces between teeth
  • Make teeth look longer after being worn down
  • Change the shape of teeth
  • Alternative to metal fillings
  • Protect a portion of the tooth’s root that has been exposed when gums recede

The uses for bonding are vast and here at Sardina Dental, Dr. Tom will make sure that your 100-watt smile is back in business!

How do I know if I Need Bonding?

First we will do a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, which may include x-rays. Dr. Tom will discuss the most appropriate course of action for repairing your teeth. If you are a candidate for bonding, Dr. Tom will review the benefits of bonding vs. crowns with you.

What to Expect for a Bonding Procedure

  1. Dr. Tom will match the shade of your existing teeth to select a color that will most closely match the color of your tooth.
  2. To make it as painless as possible, you will be given anesthesia or Novocain with our STA wand system. Our STA wand system eliminates the need for needles.
  3. One of our Expanded Function Dental Assistants or Dr. Tom himself will place and activate the bonding with a blue curing light.
  4. After the bonding is cured, it will need a little smoothing and then you will be able to admire your new tooth.
  5. And yes, you will be able to eat and drink right away!
